Week 1 - Think Forward
catch up:
Think Forward - Philippians 3:12-16
-
When Christ gets a hold of you, you think in the future tense.
-
Thinking forward requires a short memory - v. 13 - "forgetting what lies behind..."
-
Forgetting does not mean losing your memory - it means choosing not to be influenced by the past.
-
If we're going to think forward, we have to remove two words from our vocabulary - "used to" - the gospel mentality and the "glory days" mentality don't mix.
-
"I'm willing to go anywhere, provided it's forward." - David Livingstone - missionary to Africa
go deeper:
-
What do you need to put in the rearview mirror?
-
What is an area of your life where you're just coasting?
-
When the gospel moves in your life, you can not sit still - What step is God calling you to take?
-
Pray and ask God to help you see things for what they are - not a nostalgic look at the past - but a singular focus on proclaiming the glory of God as we think forward.
