Week 1 - Think Forward

catch up:

Think Forward - Philippians 3:12-16
  • When Christ gets a hold of you, you think in the future tense.
  • Thinking forward requires a short memory - v. 13 - "forgetting what lies behind..."
  • Forgetting does not mean losing your memory - it means choosing not to be influenced by the past.
  • If we're going to think forward, we have to remove two words from our vocabulary - "used to" - the gospel mentality and the "glory days" mentality don't mix.
  • "I'm willing to go anywhere, provided it's forward." - David Livingstone - missionary to Africa

go deeper:

  • What do you need to put in the rearview mirror?
  • What is an area of your life where you're just coasting?
  • When the gospel moves in your life, you can not sit still - What step is God calling you to take?
  • Pray and ask God to help you see things for what they are - not a nostalgic look at the past - but a singular focus on proclaiming the glory of God as we think forward.
